Proposal photography is something that I’ve always loved. It is so incredible to be the one who captures a moment in two peoples’ lives that is going to change everything. Brad, the future groom, contacted me about a month before he was planning to pop the question. I remember getting his call and hearing the excitement in his voice as he told me his plans. Julie, his (now!) finance, and he live in Colorado but have family in Bradenton, Florida, so he wanted to propose on the beach at sunset to highlight Florida’s beachy beauty – something Colorado residents don’t really get to enjoy! Brad wanted to propose on Anna Maria Island, near Julie’s families’ home. He asked me where the perfect proposal spot would be on the island and I came up with Bean Point. If you’ve never been up to Bean Point, you have to go!! It’s really worth the trip. Bean Point is the northern-most point of Anna Maria Island and there were hardly any people there. It was so quiet and intimate – perfect for a proposal backdrop.
I got there early and scoped everything out before the couple arrived. When they did, I hid behind the bushes and pretended to be a landscape photographer to make sure Julie wouldn’t suspect anything and catch on to what was happening. About a half hour before sunset, Brad proposed to a very excited Julie and the two are now the future Mr. and Mrs.! After the proposal we stayed for the sunset and got some killer silhouette and engagement photography type shots. I am so happy Brad asked me to do this, and I’m so happy this couple will have these photos forever. Cheers to the new Mr. and Mrs.!!!
